Personal History
Anna's first event was in a rainy day in October at a park in Ashland, back when she was resident of Glyn Dwfn. She attended Samhain with the college crowd. Sir Paul of Somerton helped her sew a simple set of garb, though her pants didn’t get completed so it was good that the tunic was so long. Her first camping event was Egil’s, at that lovely site by the lake . Her 4th event was Pennsic. Up until this time, she was content to sit back and watch, and enjoy the company of her friends. However, Korwyn Marius Velis Ariannaid was having none of that kind of involvement. Swept up by his energy and excitement, Anna ran her first set of lists at the An Tir Holmgang and was also invited to Their Majesties Tjorkill and Hlutwige’s Dim Sum. A massive rainstorm broke out during the activity, so Anna spent much of the time trying to keep the tent from flooding by holding up the material in one corner so the rain wouldn’t gather. It was fun, funny, and the food was fantastic. She spent the next several years working with her friends on moving the Summits toward Principality status. Her husband at the time, Sveyn Egilsson was awarded the title LawBringer for his work on the research and writing of the laws of the Summits. The two joked that if it wasn’t so anachronistic, Anna could have been given the title “Law Typist”. Fast forward a few years of happy involvement (AS 32) and it was time for real life to interfere.
Anna, the Return
In AS 42, Anna returned to the SCA and the Summits with Sir William Brannan and two horses. It’s been a fantastic journey so far!
Persona
Isn’t persona a funny thing? When I first started playing this game, I didn’t give it much thought, then I met, and got married to a Herald. This brought with it a whirlwind of “must do’s”. I suddenly needed a name and a device. At the time, I wasn’t really sure what era and locale interested me, so we did the next best thing, we created something based off of my own name and a special family location. My ancestors helped found the town of Mt. Angel in Oregon. Thus, Nancy Lee from Mt. Angel became Anna Elizabeth von Engelberg. This worked for a while, but because so many people around me had Norse persona, I decided to find something of that nature that was interesting. Asleif Einarsdottir was born. She traveled often with her husband, Sveyn Egilsson, meeting up with their kin in the Kingdom of the East, even spending an entire year there at one point. However, they longed for their homeland of the Summits in An Tir, and so returned. As with so many, real life stopped the game for about a decade. Upon returning in AS 42, I decided that the Norse persona really did belong in the past, so I took up the name of Anna again.

2011 – During my first time as Principality Equestrian officer, assisted Prince Brian and Princess Acacia in the creation of the Summits Equestrian Champion, the Outrider. This included writing up the rules and requirements for both those competing and the logistics for putting on the competition.

Awards and Honors
An award is described as a prize or other mark of recognition given in honor of an achievement. For me, it isn’t the award, but my own knowledge that I’ve achieved something I’ve set as a goal or that I am doing something I really enjoy. (And please don’t get me wrong, the other recognitions I’ve received while participating in the SCA are icing on the cake!) I set three goals for myself upon my return to the SCA. 1) I want to be good enough to be recognized as having a martial skill on horseback (the Summits Grail for Martial Prowess), 2) I want to be good enough to be recognized with other equestrians who hold the Kingdom level award (Lion et du Lance), and 3) I want to beat my husband in an equestrian competition. Two out of three is fantastic, and that 3rd one is so close!
