SCA History

Andreas posing with his new 14th Century coat of plates and war club

Andreas joined the SCA in 2005 for a Sealion War held by the Barony of Seagirt. Some time later, he was first kid on his block to assemble a suit of armour and start fighting. Andreas has since thrown himself head-long (sometimes head-first) into any bout of heavy combat he can find. It paid off when he travelled to Sealion 2008, participated in the newbie fighter tournament and won most chivalric combatant.

Starting as a generic "An Tir viking" and later a 12th century Norseman, Andreas has dedicated himself to building better and better kit for his persona, reworking his entire suit of armour and garb to be more period. He enjoys the research, care and appearance of a good suit of armour he's crafted to fit better with his ideal of the modern middle ages.

Several years later, Andreas changed his persona to 14th century to bring himself more in line with research material he admired. Andreas then, with no prompting from others, built himself an entirely new suit of armour to better fit this persona. Splinted vambrances and greaves "like those that appear on Gunther von Schwarzburg", a coat of plates, and a shovel-faced bascinet style helm all helped complete the look of a proper warrior from Northern Europe, circa 14th Century.

He is often seen in the company of such disreputable folk as Rashid al-Qasim, Turstan of Seagirt and is man-at-arms to Dmitrii Ivanivitch.

Infamy

Andrea has the dubious honour of discovering and popularizing Mickey's Big Mouth Beer to be the official beer of Seagirt's SYG Trials. Without fail, he will always bring a 15 pack of that heinous, delicious beverage for us to swill. I also have fond memories of him riveting his new coat of plates together mere days before Sealion War 2012, yet still had time enough to put together an A&S entry as well. Ask him about it sometime, it's quite a good story.
