Her Ladyship Aelana has been playing actively in Lions Gate since 1986, mainly doing arts and sciences activities, at first costuming, embroidery (Opus Anglicanum), painting (oil and egg tempera icons), and scrolls, then later tapestries, mosaics, bookbinding, and metal decoration for books. She is a founding member and administrator of the An Tir College of Book Arts, ranks highly in the Costumer and Embellisher’s Guilds, and has revived the Tir Righ Armourer’s and Jeweller’s Guild.

Aelana’s service activities have also been in teaching, organizing classes, guilds and demos. She has 22 Magister Ithras, and has taught a great variety of other craft and history classes. See the Ithra website, the OP and her own website.

She is a Protege of Steffano da Gucci al Khabeelah, who has this to say about her:

"Hmm,
Well, sweet soul, first.
Calligrapher, bookmaker, painter, genius (but don't tell her - she has modesty issues).
Enthusiastic volunteer, teacher, but at the same time continuously seeking opportunities to be a student.
I guess I should tell her she has a page on this thing, so she can rewrite what came to mind off the top of my head :)

Baron Steffano, OP"

She has also been Apprentice to Mistress Seiglynda Thyrisdotter of Elphinstone for 12 years, and Journeyman to Tamlyn of Wyntersea for 5 years, learning a great deal from each of them.

Persona

Currently Aelena's persona focuses on an Anglo-Saxon Jeweler and Embroiderer of the 10th-11th century. In the past she has been a Spaniard of the 13th Century under Alphonse the Wise, translating arabic texts into Spanish and Latin for Troubadors and Ladies.
