This year, it was hot. VERY hot. The overhead sun beat down like an iron pan; and the sun made it necessary to exit my tent early.

The food was excellent, and buying a food ticket was a cheap way of making sure I had enough to eat. If you have heart problems, keep in mind that it's fried, and breakfast had bacon (yummy, but, well, not exactly hyperlipidemia-friendly). I can't say enough about the food. Yum!

The food merchant was very friendly, and spending time in her tent playing chess was about the only way to keep the sun off, since I didn't own a pavilion.

Legio II was in attendance, and so much fun, I didn't mind not knowing anyone.

The archery contest was fun fun fun, but the war was better. I have no idea how they survived clashing in hot weather, but they were skilled, very active, and better than televised sports.

Spent some time wading, and shopping (even on my limited budget). The merchants were friendly and helpful, even if we needed more of them. There were several, but there were so many people in attendance, their numbers were dwarfed by the number of attendees.

All in all, I really recommend this one.
